Healing Addictions Through Touch!

I like to design the sessions at MFRWorks to feel wondrous!  My reasons for this are strategic:   to maximize the results of a myofascial release session, it is optimal that a client lets down their guard, slows down their breath; shifting their nervous system into a healing mode.  Studies actually show that therapeutic touch stimulates this shift faster than swallowing any pill or tablet.  Amazing!

One of my favorite “go to” places to touch on a client’s face is their sphenoid bone.  It is comically shaped, somewhat resembling that of a butterfly, bat or wasp with its wings extended.

Makes me wonder, if the creators of Batman were schooled in cranial anatomy?     The bone has many functions including helping to form the eye socket,  and also serve as an anchor point for muscles of the jaw.

Kundalini yoga relates to this bone from another perspective; it is touched by the thumbs during the Addiction Meditation. The website Kundalini.yoga explains that "the pressure exerted by the thumbs triggers a rhythmic reflex current into the central brain. This current activates the brain area directly underneath the stem of the pineal gland. It is an imbalance in this area that makes mental and physical addictions seemingly unbreakable. In modern culture, this imbalance is pandemic. If we are not addicted to smoking, eating, drinking, or drugs, then we are addicted subconsciously to acceptance, advancement, rejection, emotional love, etc
